(опцион,сделка с премией) Право на продажу или покупку биржевого товара, валюты или ценных бумаг (securities) в фиксированном объеме к определенной дате по цене использования опциона (exercise price). В отличие от сделок с фьючерсами в торговле опционами прибегать к цене использования не обязательно. Это делается лишь в том случае, когда применение ее повышает прибыль. Участник биржевого опциона может вообще отказаться от применения цены использования-в этом случае он терпит убыток на сумму, равную изначальной покупной цене опциона (option money) или опционной премии (option premium). В Лондоне опционы товарных фьючерсов продаются и покупаются на Лондонской бирже форвардных контрактов с опционом аннулирования (London FOX); опционы на индексы курсов акций, иностранные валюты, акции и учетные ставки-на Лондонской международной бирже финансовых фьючерсов и опционов (LIFFE). Опцион на покупку называется опционом “колл” (call option); он приобретается обычно в ожидании роста цены. Опцион на продажу называется опционом “пут” (put option); он покупается в предвидении падения цены либо с целью защиты прибылей или инвестиций. Опционы, как и фьючерсы, позволяют физическим и юридическим лицам застраховаться от рисков существенных колебаний цен; они позволяют дилерам и спекулянтам уменьшать свои обязательства при игре за высокие прибыли. Профессиональные участники сделок с опционами используют разнообразные методы, часто приобретая комбинации опционов, которые отражают ожидание определенного развития событий или покрывают непредвиденные обстоятельства (см.: butterfly (“бабочка”), straddle (стрэддл)). Обращающиеся опционы (traded options) можно продавать и покупать на фондовых биржах в любое время, т.е. там и тогда, где осуществляется торговля обычными опционами. Сделки с обращающимися опционами заключаются на Лондонской бирже форвардных контрактов с опционом аннулирования и на Лондонской международной бирже финансовых фьючерсов и опционов. Однако обыкновенные опционы (traditional options) можно только купить, но продать нельзя. Обыкновенные опционы на сделки с акциями продаются и покупаются на Лондонской фондовой бирже, а обращающиеся опционы на сделки с акциями-на Лондонской международной бирже финансовых фьючерсов и опционов. В случае Европейского опциона (European option) покупатель имеет право использовать его или отказаться от опциона только по наступлении даты истечения срока контракта (expiry date), тогда как в случае Американского опциона (American option) данное право может быть использовано в любой момент периода действия контракта. Поэтому европейские опционы дешевле американских.
